Management Team
Patrick
Brannelly – Chief Executive Officer
Patrick Brannelly is NeoCORTA's CEO. He holds a
BA in Psychology from Harvard College and an MBA with Distinction from Harvard
Business School. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the
Alzheimer's Association, National Capital Chapter and as an Adjunct Professor of
Marketing and E-Commerce at the University of Northern Virginia. He is a
frequent speaker on brain health issues at national and state-level conferences.
Prior to founding NeoCORTA, Mr. Brannelly served
as Director of Group Programs at Posit Science, a leading provider of
scientifically-validated brain fitness products. Prior to Posit, he served as
Director of Organization Improvement at aQuantive, a major internet marketing
and technology company. Earlier in his career, Mr. Brannelly worked as a
management consultant to the pharmaceutical, biotech, IT, and energy industries
in the US and Europe.

Richard ‘Dick’ Ambrosius – Vice President of Outreach & Group Programs
Dick Ambrosius
leads NeoCORTA’s relationship building and public education efforts. He began
his career in aging services in 1976 as the Executive Director of a
not-for-profit Area Agency on Aging in Iowa. In 1980, President Reagan appointed
him as the youngest member of the National Advisory Committee to the 1981 White
House Conference on Aging, where he delivered a keynote address.
In 1982,
Ambrosius founded one of the first full-service marketing organizations to
specialize in the older adult market. Since that time, he has motivated and
entertained thousands with presentations to consumers and industry groups in 49
states. He has also consulted to a wide range of Fortune 500 companies,
non-profit organizations, and government agencies serving older adults. From
1999 until 2010, he served as Vice President of Marketing for two
multi-community senior living companies.
Dick’s
trendsetting work led to his selection as South Dakota’s 1997 “Entrepreneur of
the Year” by Entrepreneur Magazine.
He is the author of Choices & Changes…a
positive aging guide to life planning and numerous articles in state and
national publications. He earned his BA and MA in Political Science from the
University of South Dakota and is a decorated Vietnam veteran.
Ryan McKim, PsyD – Vice President of Research & Outcomes
As NeoCORTA's Vice President of Research and Outcomes, Dr. Ryan McKim oversees the design and delivery of NeoCORTA's services. Dr. Ryan McKim is a clinical neuropsychologist specializing in the assessment of memory and cognitive rehabilitation. Dr. McKim completed fellowships specializing in Neuropsychology and Health Psychology at the California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC) in San Francisco.
He is currently involved in clinical research at the San Francisco VA Medical Center investigating neuroplasticity and developing novel cognitive rehabilitation strategies for our returning veterans who have experienced traumatic brain injuries. He is Adjunct Faculty at the California Institute of Integral Studies, where he teaches Neuropsychological Assessment. Dr. McKim is a frequent speaker on cognitive health and healthy aging and teaches a Memory Fitness Program for patients at the Memory Disorders Clinic and for members of the public who want to improve their memory.

Jay Chyung, MD, PhD – Founder and Board Member
Dr. Jay Chyung earned both his MD and PhD in
Neurobiology at Harvard Medical School, where his work focused on the treatment
of Alzheimer's disease and mood disorders. Dr. Chyung co-founded NeoCORTA and
led the development of the company's assessment, forecasting, and recommendation
capabilities.
Dr. Chyung currently serves as the Medical
Director of Healthways, a leading provider of health management solutions.
Earlier in his career, he worked in the Healthcare Practice of the Boston
Consulting Group and at the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services. He earned
his BS in Biochemistry magna cum laude at
Harvard College.
Eric Emrey – Advisory Board Member
Eric Emrey is a recognized expert in the design and deployment of innovative healthcare analytics. He currently serves as a Managing Director at The Advisory Board Company, a publicly traded firm that provides best practice research, business intelligence software, and consulting services to 2,800 hospitals, health systems, and other organizations. He also serves on the company’s Policy Committee.
Eric has played a key leadership role in growing the company’s business intelligence division from its inception in 2003 to more than 500 employees and 19,000 end users today. In his current role as Managing Director, he oversees a product line of internet-based analytical tools that improve emergency room medicine by delivering timely information to clinicians, managers, and executives. In his previous role with the company, he oversaw more than 100 successful implementations of similar tools targeting surgical departments.
Eric began his career with The Advisory Board as a Business Analyst, serving as a trainer and consultant to hospitals wishing to improve their processes, operations, and financial performance through the use of best practices. Earlier in his career, he served as a strategy consultant to clients in engineering-intensive industries and as an Information Systems Manager at a professional services firm. He holds a BA in Philosophy from Washington College.
Dr. Michael Knable – Consulting Clinician
Dr. Knable is a board certified Neurologist and
Psychiatrist who was recently named a Top Psychiatrist by Washingtonian
Magazine.
Dr. Knable earned his undergraduate and medical
degrees at Ohio University. He is a faculty member at George Washington
University Medical School and the Uniformed Services University of the Health
Sciences.
Prior to
entering private practice, he was Executive Director and Medical Director of The
Stanley Medical Research Institute, the largest private, non-profit funder of
schizophrenia and bipolar disorder research in the US. Prior to SMRI, he was a
researcher at the National Institute of Mental Health for six years. Dr. Knable
has authored more than 60 articles on neuropsychiatric disease and co-authored a
book about Manic Depression.
Dr. Sandra Timmerman – Advisory Board Member
Dr. Sandra Timmerman has
served as the Director of the MetLife Mature Market Institute since 1997. The Institute conducts research,
provides education and consultation, and informs public opinion about aging
issues and the 50+ market.
Dr. Timmerman is a
nationally recognized gerontologist with over 25 years of experience in the
field of aging. Prior to joining MetLife, she held senior positions at the
American Society on Aging, AARP, and SeniorNet. She has also served on the Board
of Directors of the American Society on Aging, as the Chair of the Board of
Directors of the National Alliance for Caregiving, and as the Chair of the
Business Forum on Aging. She was also a delegate to the 2005 White House
Conference on Aging.
Dr. Timmerman writes for several publications and is the Financial Gerontology
columnist for the Journal of Financial Service Professionals. She frequently
serves as an invited speaker on aging issues, and has been interviewed by the
Wall Street Journal, New York Times, and USA Today. Dr. Timmerman earned her BA
from the University of Colorado and her MA and EdD from Columbia University.
